Two-month-old baby whose arm was broken by his father is dead

According to reports, the two-month-old infant who had his father, Confidence Amatobi, break his arm for disturbing him in his sleep has passed away.

Amatobi, a native of Amurie in the Isu LGA of Imo State, is said to have committed the deed out of rage, according to Prime 9ja Online.

He reportedly beat the two-month-old infant with a plastic cloth hangar until the child's arm was broken.

The baby's amputated fractured hand was then repaired.

He apparently passed away a few days after the amputation, though.

On Wednesday night, Kanu Garba, a Twitter user, tweeted a confirmation of the infant's demise.

Garba said that now that the boy's father is dead, he may rest in peace.

He tweeted: “The two-month-old baby who was beaten by his father for disturbing his sleep died today.

“Before his death, the hand injured had to be amputated.

“The father can now sleep peacefully.”

The assault on the baby had attracted condemnation and outrage, with the Imo State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists and National Human Right Commission calling on the Imo State Government and the police to immediately arrest and prosecute the suspect.

However, the suspect is still at large as there is no report of his arrest yet.
