The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) has warned that there might be up to 18 million "dead votes" cast during the general election in 2023, notably for the election of the president.
The information was revealed on Christmas Day by Emeka Umeagbalasi, a criminologist and the board chairman of the non-governmental organisation Intersociety. A 27-page Special Investigative Report On Nigeria's INEC was in question.
He asserted that the report's main goal was to expose various plans to rig the forthcoming presidential election on February 25 using scientific facts.
The ineligible votes, in Umeagbalasi's opinion, would include children, foreigners, and those who used fake or stolen identities.
He warned that if extreme measures were not taken to foil the allegedly horrifying rigging conspiracy, the anticipated 18 million dead votes will consume the anticipated 14 million ballots.
The leader of the Intersociety claims that 10 million PVC holders have already compromised their morals and are unable to cast a ballot for the president they like in 2023.
He said that their analysis showed that there were still millions of unregistered voters on the registers.
Umeagbalasi asked INEC to extend the PVC collecting deadline for eligible voters to the day of the election.
He asserted that the slogan "No election in Biafra Land" had been politicised and commercialised and that those who were screaming it were attempting to frighten people into casting their ballots against their moral convictions.
