Dukuye Ohofete, a 73-year-old man, was allegedly caught on camera defiling a five-year-old child.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency revealed this in a statement released on Tuesday.
Ohotefe was brought before the Samuel Ilori Magistrates' Court in Ogba, Lagos State, after he was caught on camera by a neighbour doing the crime, according to the statement signed by Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni.
The statement said: “The survivor's mother was reported to have been separated from the child’s father six months ago.
“She, alongside the survivor, visited the alleged perpetrator, a family friend, on December 14, 2022.
“The alleged perpetrator asked the survivor's mother to get foodstuffs for him and left the five-year-old in the house with him.
“According to the survivor's mother, on getting back to the house, she was shown a video of her daughter being defiled by the alleged perpetrator.
“The mother also claimed that the survivor complained about pain in her private parts four months ago, but she thought it was an infection.
“The 73-year-old has been remanded in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.”
