The kidnapped monarch of Oso Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Clement Jimoh, has been released.
The bandits released the traditional ruler after he had been held captive in his palace for seven days.
According to a family source, the monarch was released on Wednesday evening and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
"Kabiyesi was released yesterday (Wednesday) evening, but he was taken to the hospital for treatment," a source said.
However, the source did not specify whether or not a ransom was paid before he was released.
It was previously reported that the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded a sum of N100million but later reduced it to N10million.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the development.
She said , “It is true the Oba has been released but our investigation into the matter is still ongoing.”
