Amazon adds TikTok-like shoppable content to its app
Amazon is now the one imitating TikTok in this instance. The e-commerce behemoth Amazon announced for the first time that a new feed in the Amazon app would feature images and videos of products that users could buy. This information was first made public by The Wall Street Journal.

By displaying pertinent products within pertinent content, as done by many other digital juggernauts, Amazon's Inspire feed aims to promote in-app purchases. While TikTok has been working on its in-app shopping features, including Livestream shopping, YouTube's TikTok clone, Shorts, has integrated affiliate marketing and in-app purchasing.

Amazon had started testing Inspire with staff members, according to WSJ reporting from the summer. An initial group of US customers will be able to access Inspire, which is denoted by a lightbulb icon inside the Amazon app. The company, according to the WSJ, has also begun hiring influencers to produce videos for the feed to capitalise on social shopping, joining choices from brands and regular customers.

When customers click the Inspire button, information is organised into categories like "interior design," "pets," and "skincare," all of which highlight and link to pertinent Amazon products. Instant purchases can be made by using visual aids like videos and pictures.

Amazon is one of the few businesses that could pose real competition to TikTok's aim of consolidating product discovery and purchasing in one location. Although the short-form video app TikTok has been proven to be a successful way to increase sales of anything from makeup to cleaning products, persuading users to buy through the app is difficult. Influencers who produce these videos frequently encourage their followers to purchase the products they use from their own Amazon stores in order to earn a commission by promoting them on Amazon. It is completely understandable why Amazon would want to reclaim some of that attention.

TikTok also wants to mimic Amazon's expansion for its own growth. In order to support its e-commerce offerings, the company is building out its fulfilment centres in the United States, according to job postings this fall. The company would handle returns and storage, according to the jobs that were posted.
