Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has legal mechanisms for dealing with disloyal members.
On Friday, Tambuwal's media advisor Muhammad Bello made the declaration.
The remark was made in reaction to rumours that Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, had selected a candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
Wike and other governors allegedly received warnings from Tambuwal to avoid acting against the party's interests.
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will respond to the antics of five of its Governors currently being speculated to be in political dalliance with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” read part of the statement.
“The PDP is a law-abiding party, and it would explore lawful avenues to bring any of its erring members to book.”
He continued by saying that the party would react to Wike and the other governors’ decisions once they were made.
