Bandits kidnapped the wife and four children of Aminu Ardo Jangebe, a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

Alhaji Yahaya and Sa,adu Mainama, two of his neighbors, were also kidnapped.

An indigene of the town, Sani Abubakar, told PRIME9JAONLINE over the phone that the bandits arrived in town around 11 p.m. on Thursday and began shooting sporadically to scare people away.

Many people fled when they heard the gunshots, according to Abubakar, while others shut their doors to avoid abduction.

He claimed that the bandits went straight to Aminu Ardo's house, breaking down the gate to gain entry.

"As soon as the bandits entered the house, they abducted the Honourable Member's wife and four children."

“As they were coming out of the house, they spotted two of his neighbours, MalamYahaya and Sa,adu Mainama who they also abducted,” he said.

Abubakar said the bandits also took away a motorcycle belonging to one of the abducted persons.

Frantic efforts were made to speak to the lawmaker proved abortive as he did not pick up several calls put through to his phone.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, also did not pick up his phone although he confirmed the incident to PRIME9JAONLINE.

Contacted for comment on the issue, the state’s Police Command Spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu, said “I will get more details”.

However, Shehu did not respond up to the time of filing this report.
