Benue housing commissioner kidnapped
Armed men kidnapped Ekpe Ogbu, the commissioner of housing and urban development for Benue.

Near around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Ogbu, a former chairman of the Ado Local Government area in the Benue South senatorial district, was taken hostage at Adankari Junction on the Otukpo-Ado route.

It is uncertain if the three additional individuals who were allegedly in the commissioner's car were also kidnapped.

On security-related issues, Governor Samuel Ortom stated that a search had been started to find and release him.

He was driving a Hilux van, which the police had identified and seized, according to news reports from Prime 9ja Online in Otukpo.

The event was confirmed by Anene Sewuese, a spokeswoman for the State Police Command, who also stated that officers had been dispatched to the area and that more information would be made public as it became available.

At the time this complaint was submitted, the kidnappers had not been contacted.
