Christmas: Gombe Gov Releases N75m, Food Items to Christians

The Gombe State Governor, Mr Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has donated over N75 million to the state's Christian community in the spirit of Christmas and New Year festivities, allowing them to easily observe the holiday in light of the country's current economic crisis.

Governor Inuwa also mandated the distribution of 5,000 sacks of rice in addition to the monies to promote a more happy occasion.

This information was provided to newsmen in a press statement that Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe, Mr Ismaila Uba Misilli, published.

Additionally, the governor has authorised the payment of December salary to all political appointees, local government employees, and public personnel in Gombe State beginning on December 19, 2022.

Prior to the Yuletide, he had already signalled the start of the payment of nearly N1.6 billion in gratuity arrears owing to state pensioners.

The governor's actions are consistent with his commitment to enhancing the welfare of the wonderful people of Gombe State.

Christians are also urged by Yahaya to embrace the ideals of love, selflessness, and tolerance personified by Jesus Christ.

He urged Nigerians overall, including Christians in Gombe State, to uphold their unwavering trust in God, uphold harmony, and practise qualities that advance both the state and the nation.

He urged the people to renew their commitment to God and to their prayers, which, he claimed, had a significant influence on the peace, harmony, and stability of society.

The governor stated that “on this significant occasion of Christmas, I extend my best wishes to the Christian community and all citizens of the country.

“This period reminds us of the need to uphold the virtues of love, selflessness and tolerance. I call on all of us, to reflect on the lessons of the season which presents an opportunity to love and to share.”
