The accusation of receiving stolen goods has been brought against Abubakar, who resides in A.Y.A, Asokoro, Abuja.
The defendant's bail was postponed by the judge, Umar Mayana, who also set a hearing date of February 16, 2023, for a decision on the motion.
The defendant is to be held at Keffi Correctional Center till the outcome of the inquiry, as per Mayana's instruction.
Olanrewaju Osho, the prosecution's attorney, had informed the court that Tina Chekwas of No. 21 Justice Showemimo Street, Asokoro, Abuja, reported the incident to Karu Police Station.
According to Osho, the complainant alleged that her security guard, Yakubu Ayuba, had stolen two large pots and eight air conditioners on December 16 for a total worth of N1.3 million.
He told the court, "It was found throughout the police investigation that the stolen materials were sold to the defendant, knowing full well that the commodities were stolen and he dishonestly got them.
According to the prosecution, the defendant confessed to the crime after additional investigation, and three air conditioners were found on him.
He claimed that the offence was in violation of Section 317 of the Penal Code.
But the accused entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
