Didier Deschamps tipped to continue as France manager
Didier Deschamps is reportedly eager to continue leading France even after Les Bleus were defeated in the World Cup final.

The present manager has long been predicted to leave after Qatar's world championship. Zinedine Zidane is mentioned as a probable replacement as he looks for a new post after leaving Real Madrid after the 2020–21 season.

Deschamps declined to comment on his future following France's loss to Argentina in the tournament's championship game, saying he wouldn't have had an answer even if France had won.

L'Equipe reports that Deschamps, whose contract expires at the end of the year, is eager to continue working until the 2024 Euros and maybe the 2026 World Cup.

Noel Le Graet, the head of the French FA, and Emmanuel Macron want Deschamps to remain. The President took a close interest in the team's success and went on the field after the team's final loss to console his teammates.

The future of Karim Benzema, who appeared to announce his international retirement after the competition concluded, remains a mystery to the powers that be. The Real Madrid striker, a member of the French team, was injured and had to leave the training camp; for whatever reason, he did not return.

Numerous rumours suggest that Benzema and Deschamps are at odds once more, and Foot Mercato even asserts that the striker might reconsider retiring if a new manager were appointed.

According to rumours, Benzema even explicitly stated that he would return if Zidane was handed the starting position in the dugout.

Following Deschamps' return to France, French officials will speak with him; a decision is anticipated soon.
