Nine auctioneers were tasked with selling the 435 automobiles that the EFCC seized in Lagos at the designated Center at 14 Cameron Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Some of these auctioneers are Mau & Sons Limited, Langar Aghaji & Co., Fagobe Company Ltd, Musa Kira & Co., and Rihanna Auction Limited. Others are Kamyus Consult Limited, Areogun Resources Limited, BIS N JEG, and Integrated Services Nig.Ltd.
A public vote was used to choose the auctioneers, and pictures of the automobiles and their corresponding lot numbers were openly displayed for public scrutiny.
The cars were on display so that interested parties could view them all and make offers on the ones they preferred.
The action was taken to conform with the EFCC (Establishment) Act of 2004, the Public Procurement Act of 2007, and the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act of 2022, according to a statement issued by the agency's Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren.
On December 6, 2022, the exercise in Lagos began with a public inspection of the objects. It was intended to take place in every Command within the Commission's jurisdiction nationwide.
The auction procedure officially began on Wednesday and will go until Thursday.
This exercise, which is the first of the planned auction of forfeited properties across EFCC Zonal Commands and EFCC Headquarters, is being carried out in accordance with the (Establishment) Act, 2004, the Public Procurement Act, 2007, and the Proceeds of Crimes (Recovery and Management) Act, 2022. They can be purchased at 40 Bourdillon Road, 15A Awolowo Road, 14 Cameron Road, and CVU Obalende, all of which are in Ik During the inaugural ceremony on Tuesday, Dr. George Ekpungu, Secretary to the Commission and Chairman of the EFCC Asset Disposition Committee, ADC, made a statement.
It is being carried out in conjunction with the Bureau of Public Procurement to guarantee adherence to all applicable legislation.
While he welcomed the auctioneers to the Center, he expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army and other sister organisations for their assistance in maintaining order and security.
Ekpungu asked those attending the sale to pay close attention to the auctioneers and abide by all guidelines.
