Erling Haaland, a Norwegian attacker, expressed sorrow that he hadn't scored five goals in his hometown of Oslo after helping Manchester City to a 3-1 victory against Leeds and a return to second place in the Premier League.
Haaland was up in Yorkshire, where his father Alfe Inge played for Leeds, but when City revived their title chances, he showed no mercy. Pep Guardiola's team overcame a humiliating defeat to Brentford just before the World Cup to cut the distance to Arsenal to five points.
Haaland is dissatisfied with his performance since he missed three one-on-one opportunities against Illan Meslier, despite having scored 20 goals for City in the Premier League in just 14 games since joining the team.
“I could’ve scored five, that’s the truth. We win, that’s the most important thing. You see Arsenal at the top now, we have to hunt them, but for me as a striker, I could’ve scored a couple more. That’s life, I have to practise more,” Haaland said.
The City star refused to celebrate, a nod to his background with Leeds, but it didn’t prevent him from scoring twice on the night, both off of assists from Grealish “I have to say, it’s a really special moment in my career. It was in my craziest fantasy I could think of to be at Elland Road and score for Manchester City against Leeds,” Haaland said.
