Tuesday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said that a collision that occurred during the annual Calabar Carnival in Cross River State resulted in seven fatalities and 29 injuries.
The development was reported to the media in Calabar by Maikano Hassan, the FRSC Sector Commander for the state.
He said that the event happened while bikers were out riding in Bogobiri, Calabar, in front of the Jumat Mosque.
Hassan said that there were 21 adults, 3 women, and 5 kids among the injured.
He said that although the deceased's corpses had been placed in the mortuaries of the hospitals, the injured had been sent for immediate medical care to the naval hospital and the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH).
“The incident occurred when a Toyota Camry car lost control and rammed into a crowd of onlookers during the carnival,” the FRSC official added.
