GOC charges newly promoted officers to inspire troops

Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the General Officer Commanding the 1st Division of the Nigerian Army, has tasked the Division's recently promoted and decorated senior officers to increase their efforts in the service of the country.

Wednesday, Lagbaja delivered the speech as he decorated three Colonels who had been elevated to Brigadier General in the Division.

The GOC, who is also the Force Commander for Operation Whirl Punch, advised them to motivate their subordinates and make a good contribution to the system.

“You must redouble your efforts and brace up for more tasks as promotion comes with higher responsibilities,” Lagbaja added.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the newly promoted officers were Brigadier General OO Ejere, Deputy Chief of Staff Training and Operations; Brigadier General AD Aliyu, Director, 1 Division Education Services; and Brigadier General AHB Jibril, the Commander 1 Division Provost Group.

Ejere, who responded on behalf of the promoted officers, pledged their unalloyed and continuous loyalty to the Nigerian Army and Commander-in-Chief.

He thanked the Commander-in-Chief, Army Council and Chief of Army Staff for finding them worthy for promotion.

The event was attended by Formation Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, Senior Officers, family members and well wishers of the newly promoted officers.
