GOtv Boxing Night 27: Organisers promise maximum security

Prior to the World Boxing Federation championship fight and music festival on GOtv Boxing Night 27, the event's organisers reassured attendees that there would be top-notch security around the site.

In the battle for the WBF Intercontinental featherweight championship, Nigerian Taiwo "Esepor" Agbaje, who resides in London, will face Richard Taruc Pumicpic.

On December 26, it will take place in Tafawa Balewa Square.

Bamidele Johnson, Chief Operating Officer of Flykite Productions, commented on the event's security procedures and stressed that attendees should not be concerned because precautions have been taken to assure their protection.

Johnson said: “Security is paramount and we have put measures in place to guarantee that.

“There will be policemen, who will complement a leading private security firm with competence in events of this magnitude.

“Alongside this, there will also be officials of the government security agency, who will be on hand to make sure that things run smoothly throughout the duration of the event.

“We understand how important security is to the enjoyment of the festival of boxing and music we have put together.”

Aside from the headline fight, there will be five other fights, including the female middleweight clash between Sofiat Lateef and Abosede Akinsanya.

The other all-male bouts, across weight divisions, will see a lightweight clash between Adeyemi “Spirit” Adekanla and Bartholomew Abuchi; duel between Michael Adesodun and Idris Aloma; while Opeyemi “Golden Boy” Ibrahim and Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke will slug it out in the bantamweight category.

In the super featherweight division, Sikiru “Iya Eleja” Shogbesan will take on Sodiq Oyakojo.

The show, sponsored by GOtv, with support from Supa Kommando, will also feature live musical performances by Ruger, Pheelz, 9ice, Chinko Ekun and renowned DJ Xclusive.

It will be broadcast live on DStv and GOtv.
