Inuwa Yahaya: No room for electoral fraud in 2023

Inuwa Yahaya, the governor of Gombe State, has claimed that the Bimodal Voter Authentication System (BVAS) will be used to completely prevent electoral fraud in the impending 2023 election.

Yahaya said that prior to the deployment of the BVAS device, certain politicians had exploited card readers used in past elections for electoral fraud. He made this assertion on Tuesday at the Tukulma ward of the Akko LGA in Gombe State.

The governor said that BVAS was put in place by INEC to stop electoral fraud.

He expressed certainty that APC candidates at all levels will triumph in the state's elections in 2023.

“Before now, some people will sit in a room and write results, declaring whoever the winner of the election, but with BVAS, we are not scared because we have supporters,” he said.

Yahaya urged eligible voters in the ward to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and said that these cards were still the only means by which people could choose and decide on their leaders come election time.

He urged the state’s female and young voters to cast their ballots for APC candidate Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates, saying that doing so would enable his administration to keep up the state’s recent success.

Earlier, Mr Zubair Umar, the State Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, urged supporters to get their PVCs for the 2023 election.

Umar also encouraged young people to avoid violence and participate in politics peacefully.

He claimed that Yahaya didn’t have to run for reelection because his administration’s results were so much better than expected.

He claims that over 200,000 PVCs still need to be collected in Gombe State; thus, I urge supporters and all those who registered to make sure that they collect their PVCs before elections to enable them to vote for the party of their choice.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Governor Yahaya and his campaign team have already canvassed every ward in the Balanga, Kaltungo, Kwami, Shongom, and Billiri Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state and are now in the Akko LGA.
