Man sues wife’s friend for allegedly stealing his goats

Adnan Sani, a farmer, brought Saudat Bagobiri, a friend, and his wife on Thursday before a Kaduna-based Sharia court for allegedly stealing four of his goats.

The complainant said before the court that the defendant once gave him back two of his stolen goats and requested that he "loan" him a male turkey so that he may breed with her female fowl.

“Those two goats she brought back got missing again and we found another goat of mine tied in her compound. Few days later, the fourth goat got missing too.

”She returned the male turkey but I suspected her of stealing my four goats. She deceived my wife into thinking that she was her friend.

”She only got close to my wife to steal our animals”, he said.

On her part, the defendant said she knows nothing about the missing goats.

”I found one goat roaming in my compound because I also rear goats.

”When I found the goat, I called him to check if the goat was his and he confirmed that it was indeed his. He took the goat and left,” she said.

The judge Malam Salisu Abubakar-Tureta dismissed the case, saying all claims made by the complainant were mere assumptions.

The judge discharged the defendant.
