Niger government announces rescue of seven Chinese hostages
The Niger State government announced that seven Chinese nationals who had been abducted in the Ajata-Aboki region of the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state had been released.

The Nigeria Airforce (NAF) successfully freed the captives after their abduction in June 2022.

On behalf of the Minna government, Hon. Emmanuel Bagna Umar, Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Services, made a statement.

He said that news of the NAF's successful rescue of seven Chinese nationals in captivity was received with "great joy." His Excellency Abubakar Sani Bello, the governor of Niger State, commended the leadership and soldiers of the 271 NAF Detachment for their courage and labour in a successful mission.

The NAF has continued to win important battles in its operations all over the world under the leadership of Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, including the successful rescue of these Chinese people in the Kampanin Doka and Gwaska parts of Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna State, among other locations.

In order to ensure the protection of its citizens, he continued, the Niger government, headed by Governor Sani Bello, would continue to cooperate with the state's security forces.

Umar said, “Governor Bello felicitates with the victims, their families, friends, and acquaintances for their safe rescue and wishes them well.”
