Rebecca Ikumelo, a 33-year-old Nigerian, passed away due to injuries she received in a stampede during the event Ahmed Ololade, a Nigerian artist better known by his stage name Asake, organised at Brixton O2 Academy in London, United Kingdom, on December 15, 2022.

After being taken to the hospital for treatment of show-related injuries, the mother of two was pronounced dead on Saturday.

A statement by Ikumelo’s family said: “Rebecca was a nursing graduate.

“She was an adorable mother of two children who loved working with kids.

“She was well respected in the family for her care, kindness and love.

“Her parents call her Tosin (short for Oluwatosin), meaning ‘Lord is Worthy.’”

The Metropolitan Police said two other women, aged 21 and 23, are still in critical condition in the hospital.
