Sanusi Bawa, an NSCDC officer in Katsina state, was allegedly poisoned by Laminu Saminu, a teacher in Katsina. Saminu is a 29-year-old woman.
In Saminu's final year at the Federal College of Education (FCE) in Katsina, Bawa, a close friend of his, was a fellow student.
The victim was transported to an incomplete building nearby by a teacher from the Bakin Kasuwa quarters in the Mani Local Government Area of Katsina, according to a statement from the State Police Command's spokesman, SP Gambo Isah.
They added that Saminu afterwards took Bawa's automobile.
The suspect had the victim stop his car before inviting him into the incomplete structure and serving him a poisoned beverage called "Fura da nono."
After consuming the Fura, the officer fell asleep.
As a result, the offender repeatedly struck the victim in the skull with a piece of wood to deliver the deadly blow.
He "then placed the corpse inside a well in the house and buried it with sand," according to the police report. The teacher allegedly poisoned his friend, then used this method to dispose of the body.
According to the authorities, Saminu afterwards stole Bawa's vehicle.
The deceased man's wife had been approached by the suspect, who had persuaded her to obtain the automobile paperwork, according to the police.
Isah asserted that the criminal, who had confessed to committing the act, had been found and apprehended by the police.
He claimed that the suspect had the victim's Volkswagen Golf Saloon, which had the licence plate AA 266 KUF, a packet of rat poison, and some firewood.
He stated that the investigation was ongoing and that the suspect would face charges.
