NJC reinstates Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia
The National Judicial Council (NJC) has mandated that Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia return to the Federal High Court's bench.

According to Prime9jaONline's findings, the decision was taken at an NJC meeting on December 1, 2022.

According to the directive of the NJC, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court Justice John Tsoho issued a circular on December 5 advising judges of the development.

The National Judicial Council sitting on December 1, 2022, decided to reinstate Hon. Justice R. N. Ofili-Ajumogobia as a judicial officer, according to this circular.

"The reinstatement is effective immediately, and there will be a posting of consequences."

Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia was accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 15 counts of money laundering and breach of public trust.

After a ruling by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa (of the Federal High Court, Lagos) in November 2021, the accusations against her were withdrawn.

Justice Lewis-Allagoa cited an earlier ruling by Justice Binta Nyako in her decision to overturn the National Judicial Council's (NJC) recommendations (of the Federal High Court, Abuja).

In a decision dated November 28, 2019, Justice Nyako dismissed the NJC's report and recommendations, including the judge's dismissal, in the matter tagged FHC/ABJ/CS/638/2018 that Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia had filed against the NJC.
