Ogun NUJ gets new executives

Wale Olarenwaju has been selected as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Olanrewaju of the State Information Chapel won an election conducted in the Council's secretariat in Abeokuta, the state's capital, with 165 votes to defeat Remi Olugbenro of the Paramount FM Chapel's 149 votes.

Additionally, Nike Olowe of the Local Government Information Chapel received 129 votes, while Bunmi Adigun of the OGTV Chapel received 177 votes to win the position of Secretary.

The Vice Chairman position went to Abiodun Lawal of Correspondents' Chapel, and the Treasurer position went to Idris Adelakun of OGBC Chapel.

Babatunde Odunewu of the Information Chapel won the election for Auditor, while Toyin Oyelumade of the OGBC Chapel won the position of Assistant Secretary.

Alhaji Demola Babalola, the chairman of the electoral committee, urged those who lost to accept the election results honestly and exhorted the new executives to return the State's NUJ to its former glory.

In an interview, Olanrewaju expressed his gratitude to God for the win and said that the Council will now begin over with a focus on the advancement of the Council.

In his acceptance address, the new Chairman pledged to include all members in efforts to bring back the council's former splendour.
