Orji Kalu: George Obiozor left legacies for Nigerian leaders to uphold

Dr Orji Kalu, a former governor of Abia State and the Senate’s chief whip, has lamented the death of Prof. George Obiozor, president general of Ohaneze Ndigbo.

In his tribute to the late ambassador, Kalu emphasised the significance of Obiozor's numerous contributions to Nigeria's progress.

The world will be poorer without the late diplomat's wise counsel and incisive contributions to the discussion, according to Kalu, who described him as a nationalist who cared greatly about Nigeria's future.

An obituary for the late Obiozor was written by the former governor and made available to Prime 9ja Online in Abuja on Thursday morning. He said that the late Obiozor had served as a uniting figure for both his generation and the one after.

He released a statement in which he expressed his sorrow at the passing of professor George Obiozor, the president of Ohaneze Ndigbo.

“The passing of the envoy is a big loss to Nigeria and the international community in view of the robust roles the late diplomat played at the sub-national, national and global levels.

“His intellectual contributions to global discourse were enormous and worthy of commendation.

“The personal attributes of the deceased were anchored on fairness and equity.

“He was a strong advocate of a fair and ideal society anchored on credible leadership and good governance.

“The late President General lived a purposeful life and left behind remarkable legacies for his family, loved ones and leaders to uphold”.

Kalu expressed his condolences to the Ndigbo, the administration, and the people of the Imo state, and he prayed for God to grant the late leader eternal rest.
