Pele stable in hospital amid claims of end-of-life care
Pele, a football legend from Brazil, is stable in the hospital despite earlier reports that he had been transferred to palliative care.

Pele was checked into the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo on Tuesday to review his colon cancer chemotherapy treatment.

According to reports from Brazil on Friday, Pele had been transferred to palliative care and was only receiving treatment for minor symptoms like pain and breathlessness.

The Brazil icon, whose respiratory infection was discovered on Friday, is doing well under treatment, according to the Albert Einstein hospital, and his condition has not gotten worse over the past 24 hours.

Pele's official Instagram account posted the hospital's statement along with the message, "I want to keep everyone calm and optimistic. I am resilient, full of hope, and I continue to receive treatment as prescribed.

I would like to express my gratitude to the entire medical and nursing staff for the care I have received. I have a strong belief in God, and the love messages I get from people all over the world inspire me and give me strength. Watch Brazil's World Cup match as well.

Pele is still Brazil's all-time leading scorer with 77 goals in 92 games. Pele won the World Cup three times for Brazil in 1958, 1962, and 1970.
