The governor made this announcement through his media officer, Mr. Kelvin Ebiri, following the second convocation of the PAMO University of Medical Sciences in Iriebe, in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers.
Wike was represented by the state commissioner for education, Prof. Chinedu Mmom, who commended the university for its contribution to raising the standard of medical education in the state.
He claimed that Dr. Peter Odili's (the state's former governor) vision and extraordinary commitment were realised during the full convocation event.
We will be eternally grateful to him for giving the people of Rivers State, Nigeria, and the entire world the PAMO University of Medical Sciences.
In a relatively short period of time since it began, the PAMO University of Medical Science has had a major impact on all of its students' lives as well as the lives of children in Rivers, according to Wike.
He said that its change has advanced education in Rivers State and Nigeria to a "enviable height" ahead of any private, state, or federal universities.
"For this reason, we welcomed it with open arms and dedicated the resources of the state to assisting it in expanding, stabilising, and succeeding.
With the graduation of 39 students from the Faculty of Allied and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, as well as the advancement of many more students to the clinical phases of their studies, he said that "today, we are harvesting the second set of fruits of our support."
Wike asserts that his government has continued the university's unique scholarship programme for Rivers State residents who are accepted to study medicine or a similar area.
He said, "The scholarship which has already supported over 500 Rivers students, including those from a poor background, to actualise their aspirations to become medical professionals." He went on to explain that this was done to increase the production of doctors and other medical professionals in Rivers State.
Wike has also stated that PAMO University of Medical Sciences will receive N500 million.
Dr. Peter Odili, a former governor of Rivers state and a physician, gave a speech at the gathering and thanked God for the amazing advancements PAMO University of Medical Sciences has made in its first five years.
Odili thanked Wike for his steadfast assistance, which has allowed PAMO University of Medical Sciences to grow quickly.
He exhorted the recent graduates to put their education to good use in the world and to gracefully and dignifiedly represent their alma mater in their future endeavours.
Abdulsalami Abubakar, the event's chairman and a former military head of state, said Governor Wike had been a steadfast supporter of PAMO University's growth.
