Tory Lanez convicted in Megan Thee Stallion shooting case

A jury in the Los Angeles County District in the United States convicted Canadian rapper Tory Lanez guilty on Friday of shooting his ex-girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020.

Grammy-winning American rapper Stallion said that Lanez, a fellow rapper and respected member of the music business, shot her in the foot as they left a party at Kylie Jenner's house in Los Angeles two years ago.

According to CNBC, Lanez, whose true name is Daystar Peterson, has refuted Megan Thee Stallion's version of the incident in a whole album and denied shooting her.

He has a criminal record that includes charges for assault with a semiautomatic weapon and carrying a loaded, unauthorised handgun.

According to the sources, prosecutors allegedly presented a third accusation of recklessly firing a pistol early this month.

After serving his sentence, Lanez, who was born and reared in Canada, might be transported back there. He could receive a sentence of up to 22 years and 8 months in jail.

The jury reached a guilty verdict after seven hours of deliberation, and the man was immediately taken into custody.

The punishment will be decided during a hearing on January 27, 2023.
