A 40ft container has, today, fallen on a vehicle around Cele bus-stop along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos State, killing an unspecified number of commuters.
The driver of the bus - one of the popular yellow Lagos commercial buses - was immediately confirmed dead while two passengers managed to escape with their lives from the accident.
Aside the driver that has been confirmed as a casualty, sources at the scene of the accident disclose that about five of the passengers in the bus that the container fell on were rushed to the hospital, and immediately confirmed dead.
Confirming the accident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said in a statement on its Facebook page this afternoon that the accident happened at the main carriageway of PM Gas Station inward Cele Express.
It added, "It involved an upturned 40ft container on a commercial bus. Police officers from Ilasa division are on the ground doing the needful and also effort is on for recovery."
