The Ministry of Interior has denied media reports that it had announced public holidays for the Yuletide, according to trending stories at the time.
Afonja Ajibola, the ministry's director of press and public relations, said this on Saturday in Abuja.
Ajibola said that the government had not released a statement on holiday closures.
The trending media claim, according to Ajibola, was untrue since the Federal Government had not yet legally declared a public holiday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, a few media outlets said on Friday that the federal government has proclaimed the dates of December 26 and 27, 2022, and January 2, 2023, as public holidays.
The Ministry recommended the general public to ignore the popular rumours and wait for an official public pronouncement on the subject in the coming days.
