1.5m polling agents for 2023 general election – Official

According to a representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the 18 registered political parties have nominated over 1.5 million polling agents across the nation for the general election of 2023.

The information on the agents was posted on the INEC webpage for the general election, the official, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) under the condition of anonymity, said on Tuesday in Abuja.

In the calendar and schedule of events for the general election, INEC set a deadline of December 30, 2022, for the submission of polling unit agents for the presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25.

The deadline for submitting polling agents for the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections was also set on January 6.

The names of party agents were to be submitted to the commission no later than 14 days before the election, according to Section 43 of the Electoral Act of 2022. (NAN)
