Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has predicted that All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu will "win" next month's election.
"We are fortunate to have Asiwaju (Tinubu) in the APC. He will win," Mr Akeredolu said of the APC presidential candidate on Monday during a campaign rally in Ondo.
Mr Tinubu will face Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabi'u Kwankwaso of the NNPP, among others, in next month's election.
Mr Akeredolu, speaking at a rally in Ondo's Central Senatorial District, predicted that the former Lagos governor would be elected president on February 25.
He told the audience that electing Mr Tinubu, whom he described as dependable and competent, was preferable to voting for Mr Abubakar, another northerner.
According to him, Mr Tinubu is the only candidate that can engender the desired change and development that the country needed at this challenging time.
“Tinubu will be elected as the President. Should we be looking for someone else in Sokoto or Adamawa when we have a reliable and competent person amongst us,” the Ondo governor added.
Mr Akeredolu, who equally used the rally to campaign for APC candidates for the National and House of Assembly positions in the state, said that the ruling party would come victorious in the various elections.
He presented the party’s flag to all the candidates of the party in the Central Senatorial District of the state.
Also speaking, the Ondo APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, rallied for support for the party candidates, adding that the APC remained the most popular in the state.
Mr Adetimehin urged the people to use their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to vote the party’s candidates, saying, “Keep your PVCs, it is your weapon. From top to bottom, it must be APC.”
