The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved a total of 600 centres out of the over 800 that applied.
At a meeting in Lagos with all state commissioners for education, the board's registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, promised them that the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will go off without a hitch (UTME).
The Board's spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, stated that the board was prepared to start the procedures for the examination scheduled for February 14 and reaffirmed that it will not conflict with the general elections in the board's weekly bulletin. It stated that the board has pledged to address the majority of the difficulties encountered during the administration of previous exams.
The meeting, according to Oloyede, informed the commissioners of JAMB's level of readiness and asked for their assistance. It also made clear that the nationwide development of top-notch Computer Based Test (CBT) centres is here to stay.
According to him, “We showed them the result of the 2023 centre accreditation for the conduct of the examination. A total of 600 centres have been approved, out of the over 800 that applied.”
The figure is 140 less than the total number used for the exercise in 2022. Due to this, a sharp drop is expected in the number of personnel that would be engaged.
