Ademola Adeleke meets Muhammadu Buhari, praises him for Electoral Act

For the first time since his inauguration in November 2022, President Muhammadu Buhari met with Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State. The gathering was held on Friday at Abuja's Presidential Villa.

He told reporters that he went to the Presidential Villa to personally thank the president for approving the Electoral Act, which allowed him to become the governor, after their meeting with the president.

Buhari's health and good looks were complimented by Adeleke, who was elected on the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Adeleke also said that the president's action paved the way for free and fair elections in the state.

He talked about how the exercise was favourably welcomed by Nigerians and the wider world.

You might recall that Adeleke defeated incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the election (APC).

Governor Adeleke has announced that he intends to meet with Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the President's Chief of Staff, on his visit to the palace to talk about other issues involving government support.

When asked why he had come to the villa, he replied, “Well, am happy to tell you that I just saw the president looking so well, looking so good and am happy about that.”

“Since my election, I’ve felt like I should come and say hello to Mr President and thank him for signing the Electoral Act because I must have benefited from it.

“That paved the way for free and fair elections. And all the International community are applauding Nigeria, saying that Nigeria is set for democracy.

“So, that’s why am here today, to see him and thank him and wish him well for the remaining time in office.”

He said he had submitted additional materials and would meet with the Chief of Staff to discuss the next steps for federal aid to Osun State.
