The Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) national publicity secretary Debo Ologunagba has been ordered to be detained by the Police and the Department of State Services so that he can be questioned about the false attack on President Muhammadu Buhari, per a request from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
The fake attack on Buhari, according to Bayo Onanuga, the director of media and publicity for the APC PCC, could only have happened in Ologunagba's fruitless imagination.
He suggested that the PDP might have planned to humiliate Buhari in Kano and then he placed the blame on Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, much like the PDP has been orchestrating false information against the APC presidential candidate and trying in vain to sow split in the party.
The Nigerian people, in Onanuga's opinion, ought to disregard such untrue claims made by a party that has lost its sense of reality and is suffering as a result of disobeying its own norms about the rotation of power.
He said, "We were not surprised to read of the fictitious attack on the Federal Republic of Nigeria President being peddled by the Peoples Democratic Party since the party has nothing concrete to tell Nigerians from its disintegrating Presidential Campaign.
“This is because PDP has recently morphed from being a Buhari virulent critic to strangely becoming a Buhari spokesperson! The last time it issued a self-serving misinterpretation of Asíwájú’s statement in Abeokuta as an attack on President Buhari.”
Onanuga said that it was likely that the PDP, through its paid operatives, would organise criminals to stage-manage an attack.
The APC stated its confidence in the ability of the security authorities to prevent any attack on the President, adding that anyone caught in such a scheme at this time or in the future would only have themselves to blame.
The ruling party emphasised that it should be evident to Nigerians that the PDP and their candidate have gone into a frenzied hallucinatory mode in which they are making up lies and fabrications against the APC and their candidate.
He then called for the PDP National Publicity Secretary to be arrested and questioned by authorities over the fabricated attack, saying, “We call on the security agencies, especially the Police and Department of State Services, to immediately arrest him.”
According to Onanuga, the PDP is a sinking ship desperately clinging to any stray untruth and lashing out in all deluded directions to stay afloat, but ultimately failing.
