Arsenal is going forward with a deal to transfer Chelsea midfielder Jorginho to the Emirates after failing to get Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
The Gunners have persistently pursued a move for Caicedo, 21, and have offered offers of between £65 million and £70 million to the Seagulls.
However, Brighton has been adamant that they will not be selling the Ecuadorian international this month, thus both offers have been categorically rejected.
Jorginho, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in six months, has been used by Arsenal to boost their midfield options as a result.
Sources claim that extensive negotiations with Chelsea have advanced and that the Euro 2020 champion has been given permission to go around London to complete a transfer before tonight's 11 p.m. deadline.
According to reports, Arsenal will pay £10 million upfront and a further £2 million in add-ons for the Italian international. Before concluding his surprising move across the city, Jorginho will have a medical examination. He will then sign a contract for 18 months with an additional year's worth of options there.
Jorginho has played 213 times for the club and won the Champions League, Europa League, and Club World Cup since joining the Blues in 2018. Additionally, he contributed to Italy's triumph in the 2020 continental championship.
