Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will triumph in the 2023 election with or without the backing of the G-5 governors, according to Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, a former deputy governor of Oyo State.
The Atiku/Okowa Freedom Walk was chosen as a symbol of the nation's current hazardous economic, security, and political impasse that the All Progressives Congress-led federal government has plunged the nation into, according to a PDP chieftain who talked about the event in Ibadan.
He said,” Now that Nigerians have experienced the APC government and what they got was imaginable suffering, the difference is clear.
“Our people are going to bed hungry every night, and they still have to sleep with only one eye closed because of insecurity as bandits, terrorists, and common criminals prowl the land in search of victims.
“The Buhari administration has piled up debts. The infrastructure deficit can be seen in the absence of the most basic amenities. Most of our people are unemployed, young Nigerians have no choice but to dabble in cybercrime known as “Yahoo Yahoo”, while others are fleeing Nigeria in droves.
“We are virtually in a hopeless situation. Another four years of APC will throw Nigeria into the stone age. But there is hope. Atiku will rescue Nigeria from bondage and suffering.
“Atiku is a detribalised pan-Nigerian, a bridge builder with long-standing friends and associates in every nook and cranny of Nigeria who is acceptable to all ethnic groups and religious bodies in Nigeria,” he stated.
Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, a former minister of state for the Federal Capital Territory, has stated that the grievances of the so-called G-5 Governors, all members of the People’s Democratic Party, are not with presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar but with the party’s leadership, which Dr Iyorchia Ayu currently heads.
However, she pledged that the party’s national crisis would be amicably handled before the February 25 Presidential election.
