DSS: Nnamdi Kanu ‘well treated’ in custody

The Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted claims that it poisoned IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu while he was in its care.

DSS asked Nigerians to ignore the poisoning rumour after clarifying that Kanu's issue was not political.

Kanu may have been poisoned while under the DSS's care, according to rumours.

There were rumours that some young people in the Southeast intended to torch government buildings.

In line with this claim, IPOB has charged DSS with covertly and deliberately attempting to have Kanu killed by blocking him from seeing his doctors.

An unidentified DSS agent disagreed with this when speaking with Prime 9ja Online on Kanu's treatment.

He said: “Nnamdi Kanu can’t be denied access to his doctors, and what is happening to him is political. Even if the prisoner is a hardened criminal, we treat him well, so Kanu’s case is not different.

“There is no truth in the claim that DSS is poisoning Kanu; it’s all a lie – he has access to his doctors. However, he has his medical issues but is not denied access to his doctors.

“You know we should not expect anything good from IPOB, their issue and agenda are against the government so disregard all these reports.”
