Edo Poly, Usen hosts NBTE team for institutional, programme accreditation

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) sent a delegation to Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, to assist with institutional and academic programme accreditation.

Engineer Sylvester Omoruyi, the polytechnic's acting rector, thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for his support and dedication to ensuring the institution's stabilisation and the accreditation of its academic programmes at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels in his remarks to the NBTE accreditation team at the polytechnic chambers.

Omoruyi pointed out that the institution's management prioritises the accreditation of its academic programmes and has taken the necessary steps to meet the NBTE's requirements for institutional accreditation and other programmes scheduled for accreditation by purchasing all necessary equipment and upgrading the facility.

Dr Musa Hatim Koko, the accreditation team's head and the NBTE Zonal Director for the South-South, acknowledged the impressive advancements made at the polytechnic during their previous visit.

Koko pointed out that the visiting team will evaluate the facilities for the programmes planned for accreditation with the help of NBTE officials and academic and professional specialists from other institutions.

He mentioned the three stages of the accreditation process: resource visitation, resource accreditation, and institution accreditation. National Diploma Programs in Welding and Fabrication, Computer Engineering Technology, Estate Management, Surveying and Geo-Informatics, and Urban and Regional Planning are among the departments slated for certification.

The accreditation process will occur from Monday, January 9, through Friday, January 13, 2023.
