Ex-Nigerian Army officer, 2 children kidnapped in Zamfara

Gunmen abducted Rabi'u Garba Yandoto, a former Army officer and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), together with two of his children and two other people in Zamfara State along the Gusau-Tsafe Road.

Col. Yandoto (rtd) was kidnapped by bandits on Sunday night while travelling to his village with his two children, according to local resident Mohammed Hassan.

Hassan stated, “On Sunday night, the bandits ambushed the retired Colonel, his children, and two other victims.

“We heard gunshots and started running into the bush for fear of the bandits but later realised that Colonel Yandoto was their target.”

Besides being the head of the APC faction in Zamfara known as “Wake Da Shinkafa,” Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa’s archrival, Yandoto, has been actively working to prevent Marafa from being elected in 2023.

SP Mohammed Shehu, the State Police Command spokesperson, could not be reached by phone by the time this report was filed.
