Femi Fani-Kayode: Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Peter Obi a mistake

Former aviation minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode referred to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo's choice to support Peter Obi of the Labour Party as "the worst error."

Peter Obi was supported by Obasanjo in a four-page letter that also cautioned young Nigerians about the negative impacts of the "Emi lokan" leadership concept.

The former president of Nigeria counselled young people on what to look for in a leader they want to hoist on themselves in the next elections as he compared the current state of Nigeria to moving from "frying pan to fire."

However, the former advisor to former president Obasanjo asserts that his worst error was endorsing Peter Obi in an article titled "WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO OUR BABA?

Fani-Kayode praised Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, for his accomplishments in Lagos, stating that he had recruited more people from all ethnic origins and constructed more churches than any other governor in Nigerian history.

He remarked, “Honestly it pains me when I read what people are saying and writing about him since his latest letter because I remain one of his most loyal and loving sons and I am very fond of him.”

“Yet a loyal and loving son owes his father, if nothing else, one thing and one thing alone: the bitter truth.

“And that bitter truth is that his endorsement of Peter Obi is the biggest mistake he has made ever since he came into politics in 1999, and it is nothing but an exercise in futility.

“Obi will not only lose woefully and may well be driven into fourth place but he may also lose his deposit and much more”.

The endorsement of Obasanjo for Peter Obi follows political tension in the PDP, Obasanjo’s old political party, between the G5 governors and Obasanjo’s ex-Vice President from 1999, Atiku Abubakar, who is now running for president.

Political analysts have speculated that the direction of the country’s social economy in the future will depend on the outcome of the election in February.
