Jurgen Klopp worried about Liverpool’s form ahead of Wolves game

The Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has said that adding new players to the squad is not as important to him as taking responsibility for the team's present slump.

The current FA Cup champions are preparing to play Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday in a rematch despite their humiliating 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Liverpool will have to play Brighton again, who defeated them 3-0 earlier this season in league play if they want to win. Brighton won 3-0 on Saturday, taking control immediately away.

In order to maximise the potential of their current roster, Klopp insisted at a news conference on Monday that the team is not expected to make any additions in the January transfer window.

“We look outside [to transfers] as well. It’s not that we’re stubborn and think we will keep these boys until 2060,” Klopp told the media.

“If the solutions are doable and available, of course, we would buy players. But we have an existing squad that is underperforming, but I cannot blame everyone else. I have to take responsibility. That is my primary worry.

“We have players, they are just not available… Our squad is not too small. Yes, we have to strengthen, oh yes, but is the right time to do it? I can’t see it because of the situation we are in,” he continued.

Klopp stated that Liverpool would field their best team possible against Wolves, but substitutions to the side that played Brighton might be necessary.

“[Wolves] are in a good moment; they played well here, won the game at the weekend [1-0 at home to West Ham United]. It will be tough,” he asserted.
