JUST IN: Gambia's VP, Badara Joof dies

 Badara Joof, The Gambia's Vice President, has died.

According to a tweet by The Gambia's President, Adama Barrow, he died after a brief illness.

"Fellow #Gambians, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of my #VicePresident, His Excellency, Badara Alieu Joof. After a brief illness, the tragic event occurred in India. "May Allah grant him Jannahtul Firdawsi," tweeted President Barrow.

Mr. Joof previously served as Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology from 2017 to 2022 before becoming Vice President.
