According to President Muhammadu Buhari, no one government in a country can fully address all of its issues.
This was said by the president on January 30, 2023, during the Nigerian Bar Association's State of the Nation Dialogue in Abuja.
Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, spoke on behalf of Buhari, who urged succeeding administrations to build on the foundation set by their forebears.
“I will say no one government in this country will be able to solve the problems of Nigeria, but as we build on the processes laid by successive governments, not discarding entirely what has been put in place, we will make our dreams, take one or two things to concentrate on and move on.
“We believe the outcome of this dialogue can be transmitted to us,” he continued, “so that whatever resolutions are reached, whatever recommendations you make; that will become part of the document that we will prepare as we transit and handover to a new incoming government.”
At the same event, former Nigerian police chief Solomon Arase noted that the country’s biggest problem is not the crime rate itself but rather the difficulty of prosecuting criminals.
While praising the presidential contenders, Arase urged them to use both technological solutions and large numbers to ensure the safety of all citizens.
