Mustapha Lamido: Nigerians facing hardship due to CBN’s deadline on old notes

The opposition party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), is concerned about the situation of Nigerians as a result of the lack of freshly designed Naira notes.

Dr. Mustapha Sule Lamido, the party's candidate for governor of Jigawa State, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation while speaking to party supporters on Thursday at Sule-Tankarkar.

He claims that many Nigerians, particularly those who reside in rural areas, have suffered greatly as a result of the Central Bank of Nigeria's deadline.

The latest Naira bills are in scarce supply. Prime 9ja Online claims that as a result, traders in Jigawa State have shut their doors.

Lamido made the case that a government should make decisions that benefit rather than harm its citizens.

“What we observed today during our rally is people are suffering because of the rejection of the old notes by some traders, especially in rural areas.

“To spend your hard-earned money now is a problem and to change it is another because of the none availability of banks in most of the communities,” he said.

He said that the current administration of the All Progressives Congress was planning to make life more difficult for Nigerians.

His claim: “the APC-led administration has put Nigerians through insecurity, fuel scarcity, inflation, and increased University registration fees, and now it’s adding salt to the injuries through its new naira policy.”

PDP’s gubernatorial nominee, however, urged voters to think carefully about the circumstances before casting ballots in the upcoming elections.
