In the last week of December 2022, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 35 new cases of COVID-19 infections.

It stated on its website on Wednesday that 22 of the cases were recorded in the FCT, 10 in Lagos State, two in Delta, and one in Plateau.

The incidents occurred between December 24 and December 30, 2022, according to the report.

The new cases bring Nigeria's total infection to 266,450, with 3,155 deaths since the pandemic's outbreak in 2019.

According to the NCDC, 3,451 people are currently infected with the virus, with 259,841 people treated and discharged across the country.

It urged Nigerians to disinfect frequently touched surfaces on a regular basis in order to prevent the spread of the virus and other infectious diseases.

It stressed that vaccines were one of the best tools to combat the virus and encouraged Nigerians to get vaccinated.
