Pastor, wife die trying to save son from drowning

Pastor Felisberto Sampaio and his wife Inalda attempted to save their son, age 13, from drowning last Tuesday at Camacari Beach in Paraba, Brazil. They both passed away in valour.

According to reports, Ian Sampaio's parents dove into the river to save their son but drowned themselves in the process.

Felisberto, 43, and Inalda, 42, were on holiday when they noticed their son Ian sliding into the water at the beach.

To save the boy, the couple dove into the ocean, but they were too far out.

A fisherman and a different family member reportedly saved Ian, according to the Brazilian news agency UOL. The parents were rescued from the water and placed in the boat by helpful people.

A video showed a firefighter frantically performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Felisberto while Inalda lay still on the sand (CPR).

Paramedics proclaimed Felisberto and Inalda dead on the spot.

The oldest child, Isaac, revealed to TV Borborema that he had planned to see his parents on January 9, which was precisely one day after his previous visit on January 8.

“The thing that goes through people’s minds is that it’s a lie,” he stated.

Felisberto served as pastor at the Assembly of God Church in Quixaba, Paraba, for 12 years.

The family was from Campina Grande, but they were visiting the city of Lucena in the state of Parabá for a few days.

Leonardo Meneses, the pastor at a church that Felisberto and Inalda regularly attended, was among those saddened by the couple’s untimely passing.

“I know that the circumstances are painful and difficult for us to understand; only eternity will explain all the mysteries of life”, Meneses remarked.
