Friday, the Supreme Court denied an appeal that was brought before it by members of the late General Sani Abacha's family.
The petition aimed to halt actions to restart criminal forfeiture proceedings against the former head of state and several of his family members over their alleged involvement in the theft of the national treasury under Abacha's rule.
Mohammed Abacha filed the appeal with the Supreme Court on behalf of the General Sani Abacha family who had passed away.
The Supreme Court came to the unanimous conclusion that the related concurrent factual findings are undisputed in a ruling that was read by Justice Emmanuel Agim.
As a result, the court denied the appeal and mandated that the parties pay the costs of the case.
