Terrorists kill three, take six hostages in Katsina

Early on Tuesday morning, terrorists attacked the village of Jajar Kanwa in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing three people and abducting six more.

At around 2:00 a.m., burglars came into a house and stole a number of items and animals, including money, gadgets, and food.

The terrorists, according to a local source, drove motorcycles while carrying high-tech weapons.

He asserted that the terrorists murdered three individuals, including a woman who worked at the neighbourhood clinic.

According to the source, a significant number of people were hurt during the incident as a result of the terrorist's actions as well as people's attempts to flee.

He claimed that a married pregnant woman was one of the six abducted victims and that they were all carried into the wilderness.

He asserted that the terrorists had given the residents a week after their departure to pay the sum of N20,000 each or suffer serious repercussions.

He expressed shock that peasant farmers made up the majority of the population and questioned how they would obtain the required N20,000 by next Tuesday.

It appeared that many villagers were in imminent risk of death. The source urged government and security personnel to take action as a result.

The state police command's spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah, acknowledged the occurrence and added that the worst-case scenario was two fatalities and three injuries.

“Yes, two killed and three injured. Due to the ongoing operations in Sokoto and Zamfara axis, a large number of terrorists – bandits are trooping into Katsina through Zamfara,” Isah said.

“It was while they were coming in, attacked some villagers at Kanwar Jaja, Jibia LGA. They killed two and injured three. But no kidnapping took place.

“I assure you that security forces are presently engaging them, rooting them out from their hideouts in the state.”
