Three of the five victims who were abducted on Wednesday in Ileogbo, the administrative centre of the Ayedire Local Government Area in Osun State, have been freed after an N6 million ransom was paid.
Two people, later identified as Samuel Oladotun and Fashola Tobiloba, were kidnapped while they were returning from their farm in Ileogbo.
It has been determined that the dead and seven other people were on a bus returning from a farm on Wednesday at about 5:30 p.m. when it was ambushed by armed men in the Oke-Osun neighbourhood of the town.
The families only had N6 million in cash to offer as ransom when the kidnappers demanded N25 million.
But on Monday, when three persons went to drop off the ransom money with them in Kogi State, they were kidnapped and their families were told that N24 million was required to free them.
