2023 Election: APC Thugs in Military Uniforms Arrested in Kogi Central
In a latest development, the Nigerian Army has confirmed that it arrested several individuals dressed in military uniforms who were involved in disrupting the voting process during the Kogi State governorship election.

The Army said that the suspects were arrested in Kogi Central and were linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The military uniforms they wore were reportedly stolen from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in the state.

According to a statement by the Army spokesman, the suspects were caught in the act of intimidating voters and trying to snatch ballot boxes in several polling units.

The statement read: "Following credible intelligence reports on the activities of some political thugs in military uniforms, trying to disrupt the ongoing electoral process in Kogi Central, troops of 82 Division Nigerian Army, in conjunction with personnel of other security agencies, deployed to the area, have arrested some individuals who were dressed in military uniforms."

The Army also warned that anyone found wearing military uniforms without authorization during the election period would be arrested and prosecuted.

The Kogi State governorship election has been marred by violence and disruptions, with reports of voter intimidation, ballot box snatching, and attacks on electoral officials. The Army's intervention is expected to restore some calm and ensure a peaceful conclusion to the election.
